Korin Hammerfist
One cold night, a small infant was left on the steps of a temple of Torm, a temple overseen by an order of paladins. The tiny boy was found by a member of the order and taken inside. Others gathered around and one was sent off in search of a nursemaid. "Why that baby is a Dwarf," said one, puzzled. Everyone knew how exceedingly rare it was for a Dwarf to abandon one of their offspring. In fact, no one present had ever heard of such a thing.
The baby looked about and smiled, then raised his fist and pounded the edge of his basket. "That fist of yours is a real hammer, boy. I'll call you Hammerfist," said the head of the order. And the name stuck.
The Dwarf boy grew up learning about Torm and devotion to good causes, rather than the Dwarven deities and principles of his ancestors. When he reached maturity, he he gladly took the vows of this human order. Yet Korin always wondered about where he came from and studied Dwarven culture when his duties at the temple and beyond allowed.
When Korin heard of Drogan, the great Dwarf wizard, and his school for adventurers, he asked his superior for permission to attend the school. His superior was a friend of Drogan and knew how Korin ached to know more of his own racial culture. Maybe this would help Korin, he thought, sending the young Paladin off to the school.
