I love creating a shared story with others. My favorite games have included lots of humor, such as quirky NPCs, PCs that turn stereotypes on their heads, and even downright sillyness. I also enjoy using characters to explore a facet of my personality, or maybe a personality I'd like to have :)

My favorite characters tend to be distinct:

- the incredibly wrinkled russian grandmother-type who wears bones as jewelry and carries her bastard sword under her skirts

- the asian-style bard who was sent out from his isolationist country to learn about the western-style world in preparation for his country's expansion, allowing me to comment on attitudes we take for granted, but from the outside

- the half-wild-elf archer who connects to her sorcerous power through her emotions: overwhelming feelings transmute into burning flames surrounding her

- Tom Thumb, Jr., the very tall son of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina--the perfect naive, idealistic farmboy turned scythe weapon master

I've played PnP off and on for many years, playing lots of GURPS and D&D, as well as a smattering of other systems. This has given me an appreciation of what can be done outside the basic NWN mechanics. I've been amazed, though, at how much easier NWN online has made it for me to live inside the skin of someone different than myself.

My favorite types of party conflict tend to be subtle: differences in personalities, differences in problem-solving styles, and cultural differences. I'm not fond of regular intra-party physical violence, and I especially avoid groups where characters threaten to or or even attempt to kill each other.

In any case, I feel that player communication is the key to handling conflict in a way that is satisfying to everyone.
