Campaign: "Magic Of The Ages: Shao Aeylade"
Custom portrait
Appearance: Her black hair, dark brown skin, and light green eyes make a striking combination. Even more striking is the way she presents herself: Even after four years at school, she still affects some of the more obvious trappings of her wild elf upbringing: her hair is unkempt, her clothes are piecemeal and tattered. She often wears paint or even dirt on her skin, and includes fur and animal parts in her clothing and jewelry.
Personality: Because of her upbringing with the wild elves of Chondalwood, she is somewhat reserved around and suspicious of new people. Once her trust has been earned by someone, though, she can be playful and has a surprising sense of humor (although she appreciates physical humor more than intellectual humor).
She tends to rush into new situations before evaluating them thoroughly, and ignores puzzles and other mental tasks. She is not unwise, however: if she has experience with a type of situation, she will use her learning and intuition to choose a smarter course than might be expected.
She has a strong sense of honor and duty to her tribe, and still longs to return. While she has grown a thicker skin during her years among humans, she is still a bit sensitive to slights against elves, and especially wild elves.
Background: This character grew up with the rare wild elves of the Chondalwood. Her human father had strong sorceror blood, and ran to the Chondalwood to escape from the humans' predjudices against arcane magic.
As an only child, she grew up surrounded by the rough and tumble boys of her clan. They were allowed to run wild as a normal part of childhood. Even though she has learned to stand up for herself as part of this culture, she sometimes has little patience for the "I'm king of the hill and I can prove it" fights among the boys. She feels a special connection to the sons of her mother's brother--considered a special relationship in her tribe.
The character has left the Chondalwood for a time to live among the humans. She has felt the effects of being part-human in the isolationist wild elf community. She wants to understand the human (and sorceror) part of herself before returning to prove herself to her athletic, fighting-oriented tribe.
Once leaving the woods, she left Chondath almost immediately to look for someplace more friendly to arcane magic. She stumbled upon the School of White Magic within a year or so. While at the school, she has dedicated herself to developing her arcane abillities, but never losing sight of eventually using them in defense of her tribe. (She's heard of the Arcane Archer abilities, and would like to study those skills.)
Character notes: Jastra is my most emotional character--she really is me, but without the protections and safeties I've built up around myself in the real world. I work very hard to show her internal drama in non-stereotypical ways--no rushing off for dramatic revenge, no jumping into love affairs, and so on.
