I have loaded the stand-alone server on my old XP computer and started NWN on my new Vista computer using the regular NWN program.

I can log onto Gamespy and YAY, my server is there and when I log onto my server, I go to the choose character screen and WTF... there's nothing there.

This is a continuing campaign. I have emailed the server vault folders from my OLD computer to my NEW computer and put the character folders into the server vault on my NEW computer. But when I try to play... no characters.

What am I missing?

Are you still logging in with the old account? For example, as Pearce and not Pearce1? Also, is the full patched version of NWN installed on the other computer? If it's just the server exe file, it might not work.

Yep, same old account and everything is up to date.

The one weird thing is that I can't play Purple's edited version of KotNR because it says I'm missing files. Purple sent me the custom talk tables and I put them in the TLK folder. Now it says I'm missing a bunch of other files. I think I will try zipping the entire mod and associated files on my OLD computer and email them to the NEW computer and see if that takes care of it.

The GOOD news is my old computer can run the server and the game through the router now. Before I had to bypass the router to host the game. We got a new WRT300N router and I forwarded the ports with no problem and so, if push comes to shove I can always play on the old computer until I figure out what's going on with NWN in the new computer. As far as I can tell, it's visible on Gamespy. I'll have to ask the guys in the game to see if they can log on and if THEY have characters there.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I knew I could find help here!

Are you playing under Windows Vista, Pearce? I believe the new OS handles folders differently and that NWN may be looking in the wrong place for characters. I forget what the actual path is, but I think it may be looking in your "My Documents" folder or something like that.

Check the Bioware tech forum for Windows Vista and that should provide you with some tips to try, Pearce.
