About my post from Carabell in the IC thread: please don't take her sentiments as mine. I don't have any anger about how the last session went, and enjoyed playing with you all.

Unfortunately, Carabell is more acidic than I am, and was also quite angry with how things went. She took it out in the ballad she wrote. But at least she had a change of heart and decided to give it to Jak instead of publishing it.

I think Carabell nailed it on the head with her ballad. It will surely ring true to the ears of all who hear it.

I'm just happy that my character had absolutely nothing to do with any of the men's thick-headed plans!

Who are these simpletons you guys are talking abou
Return To Top

OK, so Carabell did her best to control the testosterone fueled blundering of some over enthusiastic and arguably suicidal fool(s) ...

Finn excuses himself as clearly not involved, the Cleric saved the day, Carabell did her best to save everyone from themselves, Eune didn't seem to get involved in too much hand to hand (though he did die a lot), so that just leaves ... er, me?

Is this horrific character attack just because poor Jak expressed some mild surprise at the validity of the suggestion we heal the ancient and undoubtedly steeped in evil artifact. Shhhh, women!

Next time I'll go with the 12 step plan for reforming the behaviour of wayward goblinoids without comment and maybe we can finally get a more accurate account of the heroics of Jak.

Assuming of course we ever encounter something he can actually fight. In the meantime I suppose the purchase of some magically enhanced Adidas of running away +4 mighn't go amiss just in case.

Since you're going out anyway, would mind picking up a pair of them Adidas for Findlewick? They could come in handy as we delve into the Dwarven underbelly (which sounds as disgusting as I'm sure it will be deadly.)

Oh, no, Carabell most definitely did not do her best to help. She tried a little, but since she prefers to watch (and lampoon) the actions of others, she wasn't really that much help. And I think, deep down somewhere, she knows that.

As for that, since I live in NikeTown (or at least there's a NikeTown store in our downtown area, only a few miles from their headquarters), I'll mortgage my house and bring special Nikes for everyone. And if you don't already know what "Nike" means, you should go look it up--we could sure use some of that.

Update to 1.67?

My other campaigns have forced me to update to 1.67. Will you be updating to 1.67 before Tuesday? Or do I need to figure out how to revert by then?

Not updating yet

I'm not updating to 1.67 for a while. Right now all the other games I play in are holding off until they can get a better look at what's new and what needs to be adjusted.

So, if there's a vote, I'm voting no to an immediate update.

Apparently, this will revert you back to 1.66, if you've already updated:
http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_hotu.html

but i've heard it doesn't always work.

Tuesday, May 22

Hi folks,
I won't be able to make any session scheduled for Tuesday, May 22. It's a long weekend here in Canada, and I will be busy drinking strong beer so that the moose-wrestling isn't quite so painful.

What's the word on whether your groups have switched to 1.67 yet? Apparently, CEP 1.53 has been released for compatibility with 1.67--maybe that will help?

Just curious, as I'd prefer to play all my campaigns on the same computer, rather than switching back and forth.

Time Off for good behaviour

Tuesday the 22nd is actually 'Love Day' in the underdark, where you find Ithillids and Umberhulks playing football and swapping chocolate across a war strewn battlecave.

I intend to see at least 3 movies in the cinema as tues is half price day!

the things I give up..

Day off then, racial hatred resumes the following week.

I'll discuss with Liam perhaps - mayhap we'll have him DM a one shot filler - then again The Benny Hill Gang have brought new meaning to the term 'One Shot' !

I'm ok with patching, its up to Liam'PW'O'Donnell

Unfortunately, I don't have time to prep and run a one-shot on the 22nd, so let's just let the denizens of the unnerdark have their day of peace and love.

Regarding the upgrade, I'm waiting to hear from the dm of the pw i play 90% of my nwn in. He promised to be ready for the upgrade last week, but so far there's been no word. But other players in the world are clamouring to upgrade, so it should happen soon.

If everyone wants to go ahead an upgrade for the next session, then I'll be happy to do so. I'll just revert to 1.66 as I need to.

Jonny is the dm, so it's his call. Give us the word, o DM and upgrade i will.

Apparently this is the last patch for NWN, the Live Team got killed in early May.

Good innings

Aye sur - thats the Bioware big bad boys for ye - though they put in a good hand. You can hardly expect economic rationalisation without subscription.

Fours years after the original going gold, the second hits the shelves - thats not a bad break, and speaks of the quality involved. We may be in for a surprise with the next one

And moving before we know it.

Nonetheless the community is simply too large to peter out anytime soon. CEP 2 is due to be released and mods still come. Alot of the community shift will depend on the toolset, which they're trying to make easier, and this can be done. I have heard NWN mods will be compatible.

Its a big jump for alot of people however, as new kit is definately needed. One good point recently noted on a thread was that Oblivion tend to underspec the requirements and so to achieve decent game performance you need to hit the reccommended and higher. a 2.4GHz P4, 512MB of RAM, NVidia 5600Ultra or ATI 9500pro or better is the min! Shaders v3.0 ( 3rd generation cards then ) being implemented though only 2 required for some reason.

Cool thing is that a PC can now be purchased with 2.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 1GB RAM, 250GB hard disk, Nvidia GeForce 7600GT graphics, DVD+/-RW +/-DL here for £499 - thats about a million canadian bucks

Mind you I can only rationalise laptops so thats a sizeable jumpity jump for me, although theoretically I use one for absolutely everything.

I'm itching for a good game mind, I tried to install Temple Of elemental evil but it seems to require a rebuild everytime I do it. Its pretty much a strategy game - quite P&P as its namesake - little RP. Mmmm I';m trying resolutely to hold out - but it's always tough.

As all expansions are already installed, only the patch needs updating.

The reason for caution is compatibility with CEP . No dodgyness has been experienced but CEP dont fully support the latest patch. CEP v2 will.

We dont use CEP exclusive content too much so we should be fine.

I thought I had heard that CEP 1.53 had been put out to deal with problems with 1.67. Are there still problems (crashes, etc.)? Or is it just that some of the items are incompatible (I think I heard something about whips or similar)?

Tuesday 6th June

I should be fine for Tueaday so have signed up. There is a small chance though that I might run into diffs with a case on Tuesday taht will mean I'll have to work Tuesday night. Unfortunately I won't know for definite unitl 6pmish on Tuesday. I've signed up on the basis that I'll probably be OK and that if everyone else is there (particularly if Lurks is there too) it won't be a disaster if I have to pull out at the last minute.

If this isn't OK, Jonny, feel free to remove me or replace me this week or whatever else nasty comeuppance you've devised for ditherers.
