With a worried look on his face Elith says, “No, I didn’t, I was so caught up in the moment that I didn’t even think to ask. Do you think she is mad? God I hope not, she might not be willing to,” Elith says something very crude and foul, “me again. That would be a terrible series of events. Should I find her and ask what her name is?”

"Not to worry, she does it for gold, if you have the gold you get the business. Well, I don't want to ask Myridin, he'll just laugh at us. Let's ask the bartender, I'll bet he knows."

the cups and barely able to stand, Myridin laughs up the night. The elf was sooooo funny! I couldnt beleive he wanted to watch a mating ritual. And it was so much better to buy him his own women. Then he came running downstairs naked! Im gonna have fun off of this forever! He was thinking just as he passed out.

He then grabs Myridin by the arm and hauls him off his feet. "Come on handsome," he says to the barely conscious half-orc. With great difficulty he guides Myridin up the stairs and into their room, where he unceremoniously deposits him onto a cot. He looks down at his brother, now snoring. "I'm glad you had fun tonight," he said to the snoring Myridin. Father would not be happy with us, he thought; then shook his head to try to clear those thoughts. This is why I am not a paladin. I see no wrong in supporting these womens' livelihood. After all, they were paid VERY well. It is so common in war for women of all ages, beautiful and not to be used and devastated without remorse or recompense. This was little different than purchasing a jug of fine wine or boots, for that matter. A mutual understanding. Free will. I AM somewhat concerned about squandering the lions' funds, however. Leonidas himself missed the soft touch of a woman's flesh. It had been awhile. Removing his armor, he prayed to God for strength as he thought about the goblins' invasion.

from his pack, Owain said to Elith, "Say Elith, have you ever played games of chance?" Owain began rolling the dice on the floor. "I'm feeling to good to sleep, would you like to try and learn a new game, maybe we can get some of these sailors to play. We might be able to win enough gold for you to wrestle with that woman again. What do you say?"

Elith looks at the dice then seems to think for just a moment then asks, “Which game of chance are you referring too? Is it,” he quickly rambles off about 30 different games of chance related to dice. Without even pausing to take a breath he then says, “There is one thing that I don’t understand, how is it that you plan to make money? The odds vary only slightly from game to game but for the most part, we have as much chance of loosing as we do winning. It does not seem to be a very good way of making a profit, which makes me wonder why these games are so popular, I mean they seem like they could be fun for a short time but certainly not to the extent, some humans seem to enjoy them. Please Owain explain this to me.

as well as the dice, Owain began. "Let's take Paladins and Dragons, the people like to bet for the paladins even though they may realize that the dragons will come up as often as the paladins. Ned used to say that people feel and they want to believe in some things, so just help them believe a little bit and they will want to continue. It's like clerics, they talk people into giving their gold to the church so that clerics can have an easy life and people want to believe in God, just like you do, so the clerics help them believe and then the people hand over their gold." Owain paused to take note of Elith's reaction to the comments about God and Clerics. "So Ned said you just have to help people believe that the paladins are going to come up more than the dragons. You make a few loud noises and curse a bit when they come up. Say something like, I think these dice are loaded, the paladins are coming up all the time tonight. See, with this pair of dice, the palidins will come up more often, so when evryone starts betting on the paladins, I change to these dice where the dragons come up more often. After a while, I switch back. Everyone has a little fun and we walk away with the gold. You just have to watch me, when I signal, you bet on the paladins and lose a few coins and when I signal again you bet twice as much on the dragons. Do you think you can do that? Then we can get enough gold to play with the ladies again."

Elith seemed to not even hear the god reference because he was totally focused on the concept of the game Owain was describing. “Brilliant!” Elith shouts much louder than he should have. “That makes so much sense! You switch the dice when the other players think they are sure to win!” He stands up and waves his arms around “We will be able to afford a hundred sluts and,” Elith shouts in his excitement something terribly rude and crude, “for days!” He looks over to a local patron sitting right next to him and asks, “Would you care to play a game of Paladins and dragons?”

trying to disappear in plain sight of the tough looking group of sailors staring over at Elith. he should have known Elith would not have enough sense to keep quiet about the scheme. He really didn't like the look on the face of one very large, very scarred looking sailor making his way towards their table. "Elith," he hissed, "we have to get out of here, now!" Owain grabbed Elith's arm and began leading him towards the tavern doorway.

got to learn patience! Myridin was thinking to himself. I rush into combat and seconds after Leo tells me to wait he gets killed! I didnt even see the spider. I have got to get some more money to get some scrolls for times like that. Owain will come in handy for that. His plan to chat at some dice will work as long as Leo doesnt find out. He wont agree with it, but we need the money and in the end the end justifies the means. I've been successfully taunting some monsters into attacking me instead of Leo, but Ive gotta learn how some monsters react to certain body movements. To further increase my odds at luring them away from Leo. My rage has at times blinded me to be careful, I have to learn to stay closer to Leo in combat and when walking in dangerous times. Mothers training has come in handy, but there are times that I need to be a stronger fighter for Leos protection. He is a better priest than he is a fighter. I can never forget that. He looks down at the spider that laid there, and then goes on a chopping spree until there was very little of the spider left. He looks around at everybody, breathing heavily, and says "Im feeling much better now."

The haunch of boar dripped beads of fat into the campfire, sizzling and spitting as they bubbled on the firewood. Owain sliced a large chunk onto his platter and hunkered down beside Myridin to eat. They both had their backs to the cave wall and kept half an eye on the opening across from where they had chosen to make camp. They needed to rest for a few hours while everyone regained their strength for the next fight. Owain glanced at Myridin, then said, “You puzzle me Myridin. I thought brothers were supposed to hate each other. My brothers were always trying to catch me and beat me whenever they got a chance. If it hadn’t been for Ned, I would probably have been killed by them a long time ago.” He paused briefly then asked, Why is it that you care so much for Leo?”

Myridin looks at Owain,"You and your brothers have blood between you. So there must always be an Alpha male among you." He looks over to Leo "There is no blood between me and Leo. If it wasnt for his mother I would be dead. She found me lying in the woods only hours old. There may only be a couple of between our ages. Leo was raised by a different standerd than you He has always been helpfull, probably his mothers influence. We bonded as brothers, but due to our different blood, we have always been there for each other. Although it was mostly him there to keep me out of trouble." He sighs " I would gladly give my life for him it is the least I can do for the life his family gave to me"

Elith looks up from his studying and note taking obviously interested in what Owain Mayridin are talking about. “Is it normal for human siblings to attempt to kill each other?” He asks. “I can tell you this, since elfish couples only have children every hundred years or so, it is almost unheard of for them to fight with each other or in some cases even meet there other siblings. I imagine we would not survive at all if it were any other way.” Elith goes back to studying and note taking; he seems especially interested in the dead gnome wizard. Everything about this gnome perplexes Elith and raises many questions. Without making a sound, he gets up and heads over to the corpses of the demon creatures and starts dragging them into the light of the fire. Once he has moved all the corpses to a satisfactory location Elith pulls out a small sharp knife and begins to dissect all the creatures taking notes the whole time. He is constantly muttering to himself in elfish and then blurts out in frustration, “Where are you god and why are you here?!”

, thought Owain as he watched Elith hacking at the carcass of the wierd bird like creature. Who would expect to find God in the stinking entrails of a beast. He turned back to Myridin and said, " Was your mother beautiful? Did she sing you to sleep? What was it like having a mother and a brother who cared for you?" Owain blushed, wondering how Myridin would react to his rush of questions.

Myridin look at Owain, obviously confused. "BAH! We dont have time for this kind of talk. There are more important matters at hand. We need lots of gold. We need to be better prepared for future battles. We need some kind of spell or scroll to deal with poison, to raise dead, WE CANNOT let another fall in combat!" He looks at Leo, the concern written all over his face. He stands up and gathers his stuff. While he was bent over getting his backpack he looks at Owain and whispers; "Yes she was very beautiful" As he walks away he says in a low tone hoping noone would hear; "yes she sang me to sleep with a beautiful voice of a goddess"

Elith stops dissecting the last demon, washes his hands, picks up his book of god and walks over to Owain, sits down and opens it to a certain page that has many words and symbols written on it, all of which are completely unreadable because it is all in elfish. However, you see a few very detailed sketches that you recognize as wounds the group has inflicted on several bandits, it looks like he has been taking notes on muscle, bone joints, and tendon structures. Thinking that Owain may not understand what he is looking at Elith attempts to explain. “You see in this holy text are the hidden meanings and the divine power of god. I have spent the last 120 years learning what these hidden meanings are and how to unlock his power,” While saying this he points to many words and symbols all over the page in a very complex pattern as if it should make perfect sense. “Its funny, since I have left Riordan My knowledge and understanding of this holy text has exploded but my faith has become a bit shaky. It seems every day I am in Aielund another aspect of life I believed to be a simple truth has been a false,” Elith closes his eyes and shakes his head“, but I digress. Once” Elith points to the sketches “I had a firm understanding of certain aspects of human structure I was able to unlock a hidden power that resides on this page”. He makes an incredibly complex series of motions and sounds then a slight glow covers Owain’s body and right away Owain notices that he has far more control over his body’s movements. “There is also a beautiful verse from god here that I think you would like” Elith reads the verse aloud. “Chapter 5 verses 1 My children, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek me as silver, and search for me as hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of me, and find the knowledge of me. The fear of me is the beginning of knowledge”.

Pulling a coin from the leather pouch at his side, Owain began walking the coin back and forth across the knuckles of his left hand. The coin flashed with the reflection of the firelight, dancing before Elith’s eyes, the coin disappeared and reappeared without reason. Spinning the coin up into the air, Owain snatched at it and threw it against the cavern wall, two dice spun and landed at Elith’s feet, a pair of dragons winking in the glow. Owain picked them up and casually threw them against the wall, this time a pair of paladins replaced the dragons on the cavern floor. Owain tossed the dice again and again, first dragons then paladins, then dragons again. Owain then threw a dragon and a paladin facing each other. He threw them again and again repeating the same pair and landing them in the same spot at Elith’s feet. He sucked in his breath, then gesturing at Elith, he repeated the same hand motions and sounds that Elith had made. Sparks flew from the book on Elith’s lap and Elith jumped up as though stung by a bee. Owain’s jaw dropped and he stared at Elith, “What did I do?”

Elith Blinks with his eyes darting from Owain to the book and back again. Smiling he says, “I had no idea you were so talented in the power of god, I am truly impressed and not to mention a bit startled.” Laughingly he adds, “There you see, yet another truth from my youth proven to be false, I feel certain that it will not be my last.” Looking a bit more serious and says, “Owain my good friend, if you ever wish to learn more about the holy power of god I would be proud to teach you anything any time, in fact I have a gift for you.” Elith reaches into his pack, pulls out a white wand with a few ruins carved onto it, and offers it to Owain. “You may have this if you wish, it is a tool used to channel god’s power without having to recite any words or make any motions. It emits a beam of holy energy that is so cold that it burns the enemy you wish to harm. Just point it and will the beam of energy to strike your target. It does not cause a lot of damage but it never misses. Go ahead and give it a try.”

Taking the wand from Elith, Owain carefully examined the runes. “That was God’s power? How can you be sure it’s from God and not from some demon?” Waving the wand around experimentally, Owain swings the tip around to point at the dark alcove where Leonidas is kneeling in prayer. “If this hold’s gods power and you can control god’s power with words and hand motions and Myridin can control god’s power with his songs and Leonidas can control god’s power with his prayers, god must be getting awfully tired. It makes my head ache just thinking about this Elith.” Owain swings the tip of the wand towards the fire burning under the roast boar. “I think I’ll stick to using the bow, I understand how that works.” He hands the wand back to Elith and picks up the dice from the rock floor.
