but it is hidden by his helm. The helm that had cursed him- now shielded him from embarassment at his brother's flattery. Leonidas felt well with himself, his God, and the world for the first time in his recent memory. His solace was a welcome tonic- replacing the inner turmoil that external factors- Arlov, his Father, his brother, even the elf- had brought to him. He felt God's glow warming him like the July sun on a stone path.

Owain pulled up short when the very sharp end of a crossbow bolt pushed gently into his chest. He looked along the bolt and frame of the crossbow and up into a pair of aquamarine eyes gracing one of the most ordinary faces he had every seen. “Ere, where de yea think yer going fancy pants?” A broad smile lit up the plain face of a girl only slightly shorter than Owain. “The chief ain’t spectin ya and he done left orders ta run yea off if’n yer showed up agin.” “But I need to see Peridoc, I need help,” Owain sputtered a bit and then pointed to the shadow that was following him. “Do you see that?” “Eh what, I durn’t see nuttin, now op it, the chief said to lay you lot in the arbour if yer comes round, so push off afore I does me duty”. The girl continued smiling, obviously happy at having Owain at her mercy. “Look, yer a dicy lot but I likes a little danger, yea ang about the Mermaid I know, if yea push off nice n quiet, I may pop around for a bit o fun later.” She drew the crossbow up Owain’s chest and poked it into his chin. “Now op it, I won’t tell e agin”. Owain backed up slowly until he reached the curve of the wall and scampered back out of the sewers to the tavern.

Ok I can live and die without that dragon, never trusted him anyway. Knew there was a reason for his'help'. Still not sure he hasnt had an affect on Leo. He is still acting a little wierd. Giving orders prematurely. being so impatient. But what I CANNOT abide is Owain showing up late to a battle! Where was he? Looting the innocent mages stuff? Sure he says he is the one that used the rez scroll on me, but I didnt see who used it. Maybe he just felt guilty about being late. Had he been there he wouldnt have had to use the scroll. I could have distracted the wizard and he could've snuck up on him. He keeps pulling that dissappearing act of his and its impossible to tell where he is. I might ask a mage if theres a way to keep track of him. *gives Owain a suspicious stare*

Owain just didn’t know what to think, the others seemed to be as scattered as they had been on the first day they met. Elith seemed to be totally absorbed in finding out all about the dead. Leo was destined to fight some unspeakable demon and Myridin was just plain snarky. He had no idea why Myridin had been giving him such a hard time at the wizard’s tower. He had limped up the stairs as fast as he could after the others but that fire creature had practically burned off his whole leg. If Leo and Myridin had not returned after running off, he would have been left burned to a crisp on the stairs. They were so impatient, always wanting to go off and get into another fight as quickly as possible. I think I ought to get that information about my mother and then leave the Lions. Elith may miss me, but the others won’t. They don’t really want a scout, just someone to blame when things go wrong because they have to bash everything in sight. Still, Elith is the only person around who actually wants to be my friend and Leo has a great adventure ahead of him. Maybe I should stay, at least while Elith is still alive, if you can call it that. I wonder what my mother would want me to do. I wonder if I have any family left alive. I never did find out if the dragon took out Fort Highmarch, not that father would ever change his mind, if he even is my father. Maybe that pretty little thief will show up and I can forget all this for awhile.

Leo’s words did more too comfort Elith than anybody could ever know. “Priests of my order sometimes raise the dead to serve the cause of good. The end justifies the means.” Could Elith some how be a priest of the true god, the god which Leo has worshiped his whole life, the god of the human realm? Could the whisper of the shadows in his dreams be an avatar of god? How sure he was of his own convictions when he left his home, the god of the elves was the one true and god and all others had been deceived by demons and devils, but it was Elith that had been deceived and not be demons or devils but by his own kind. Why this deception was created and then allowed to take place is simple enough to explain. The power of Elvin magic is a potent thing and needs a moral compass, Elith glances at the scars and tattoos on his hardened light green skin and shrugs, “The end justifies the means.” Elith has decided to welcome the gift of the shadow and embrace his title as “The Pale Master.” Evil will flee in terror at the site of Elith, at the site of the bringer of there doom, at the site of the Lions of Justice and there Pale Master. Smiling Elith looks down at the bottles of medicine he had brewed many weeks ago. How long had it been since he last needed it, two weeks? He considers throwing it away but for some reason he just cannot seem to bring himself to do it. He decided that his new state of health will need more testing before discarding the medicine that has kept him alive to the last 120 years.

At the dead bodies, Myridin wonders how they survived. Not one of our better nights. We get a lead on the assasins hideout..an art gallery of all places. Start looking for a secret door, which I found and made the mistake of telling Elith. Who immediately announced it to everyone there. His niavity is gonna get us killed before his obsession with dead things will. Now he can create undead, I still wonder where his path is leading him. Nice thing we got some raise dead scrolls, but we will need to pick up more. Well we did mamage to clear the hideout of the assasins. Then we got stupid. Thier leader surrendered and started talking, then all of a sudden when he felt we were relaxed enough, he launched another attack. We then killed him, should have done that to begin with. The info we got from him may not be worth anything. Since I beleive he was just buying time. Although he did have some nice armor. I look good in it as well. But I may have to give it Owain our own thief. Just what I would rather not do...give him something that would help him do his vanishing act. It offers almost the same protection as what I have now, but I guess I will have to give it up. Leo expects me to. Leo can be to trusting sometimes.
